Death Race (2008)

My Rating: 7/10

This is a remake of the 1975 Death Race 2000. I must say, this is a good movie and worthwhile to go to the cinema for. It absolute got the video game feel. Jason Statham play the lead role of Jensen Ames and racer nicknamed the "Frankenstein" while the gorgeous Natalie Martinez play the supporting actress role, Case as a car race nagivator. I haven't watch the 1975 version of Death Race 2000 starred by Sylvester Stallone, so I can't compare them. The reason that I didn't give a higher rating is due to the simple reason that I am not a fan of action movies.

All right for now, I'm not gonna do some full review here. After all, it's my style just to say whether this is a watchable movie or not. Hehehe...

Wall-E

My Rating: 6/10

As expected out of the matrimony of Pixar and Disney, Wall-E is true to the culture of happily-ever-after of Disney and the hilarious smooth touch of Pixar. So this is a must watch movie.

It's really unexpected that for a total squarish robot there's still the... awwww.... moment. So, bring your kids or your love one for this movie at the theater.

Wanted

My Rating: 6/10

Action packed movie. Love the matrix-style framing and action. Not a bad movie, but if you are tight on budget, I would say you probably better off to go and get a DVD instead of watch it in the cinema.

Made of Honour

My rating: 7/10

Made of Honour, I first thought that this is a chick-flick but to my surprise, it's better than any normal chick-flick. It is hilarious. Starring by Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan. This is a good movie to catch to cheer up your day. Absolutely a must watch for some happily-ever-after scene and giggling.

Dempsey is stunning and Monaghan is gorgeous in this movie.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

My Rating: 8/10Unbelievably adventurous, hilarious and thrilling. It is a must-watch movie. At the age of 65, Harrison Ford was still able to bring out the old-school touch of Indiana Jones. This sequel has a surprise, Indiana Jones actually had a teenage son played by Shia-LaBeouf (who starred in Transformer). If I were to put my money on it, the next sequel will be led by LaBeouf.

Something different about this sequel is that it actually revolve around the paranormal life. It's a little surprising, but not disappointing. I'm not going to spoil the plot, if you want to know more go and read about the plot here.

10,000 BC

My Rating: 7/10

10,000 BC is quite a good movie. Although I find it lengthy at some point of the movie, but nonetheless the plot and storyline is refreshing. The director was even able to put together a link between the movie and how the great Pyramid was built.
Starring Steven Strait as the lead actor named D'Leh, this movie is very real thanks to the advancement of CG (computer graphic) technology. D'Leh is a kampung boy who know nothing about war and grow up in the village that survive by hunting and eat mammoth (mannak). He is forced to go to war because.....

... HER!!! Yes, a chun chick. Evolet (Camilla Belle) who is D'Leh's lover were kidnapped by the bad guys and so he wage war against them. Kakaka... Dramatic...As dramatic as it sounds, it still a good movie to watch. So, don't hesitate if this is a movie that's in your dilemma list. I like the mammoths. Hehehe...

Ah Long Pte Ltd

My Rating: 8/10Ah Long Pte Ltd is Singapore movie directed by Jack Neo. Extremely hilarious. It's a movie about a male dancing instructor (Mark Lee) who married a female triad leader (Fann Wong) without knowing what he is getting into. Hence, when the name of this movie is translated directly into chinese, it means "Teacher Married a Triad Leader".The script which includes Mandarin, Hokkien, Cantonese and even one bit of Hakka is sure gonna make you laugh till you drop. Two things that surprises me about this movie is the actors/actresses and the filming location. Have you guess it yet? It's Malaysia. Yah, even the supporting cast are mainly Malaysian actors/actresses. And of coz what would a triad movie without our favourite Kuala Lumpur triad's hangout place, which is Petaling Street (chi cheong kai).

So, be sure to watch it.

Warning: It won't be as funny and hilarious if you don't understand Hokkien even if you understand mandarin.

Transformers

My Rating: 9/10

Highest ever in my rating. Extremely cool. New Heroes in town guys!!! I'm not a good critic in movie, but so far I guess my recommendation is not bad huh. So trust me, this is the movie that you can watch 3 or more times and don't get bored with it.

Watched this last Friday. 1 thing that I don't like about the movie is how difficult it is to identify each individual robots. They all look so identical due to the silver chromed color(except the few obvious lead robots like Optimus Prime and BumbleBee).

This is what 1 of the bros from my hood says, "I'm not gonna support any pirated DVD on this movie, instead I'm gonna buy an original one and keep it for my future son to watch, and my son's son....".

So, don't you miss this movie. So far I have not heard any bad review on it. Although it's not perfect, but it's close to it.

Ocean 13

My Rating: 8/10

It's the kinda of movie that a lot of thoughts has been put into it. A lot of action, a lot of clever thinking and even more on the details of every plot and plan. I'm glad that I didn't miss the movie because of the packed "summer-to-watch list". It's really nice. Another recommendation from me. If you think my recommendation didn't disappoint you so far, then don't miss this one.

p/s: Be forewarned, this is the kinda movie meant for people who can't think out of the box or solve a jigsaw puzzle. Also, there's no need for any prior experience with the earlier 2 sequels. Anyone can watch and understand it.

The Rise of The Silver Surfer

My Rating: 7/10

Quite a good movie. Action-packed all way thru the almost 2 hours movie. They even invited Stan Lee (the original writer of Fantastic Four comic). Don't which one he is? Look carefully for the uninvited guest to the wedding, it's really funny. Choo and I were laughing when we saw that scene.

As usual Jessica Alba is extremely sexy. Hilarious movie as well. Go watch it!

Pirate of the Carribean 3

My Rating: 7/10

Good movie. A lot of cool Computer Graphic (CG). The only thing I don't like bout this movie is somehow I find the storyline a little too elaborated and not somehow the order of the story is quite confusing.

Anyhow, it's a good movie. Although I gave it a 7/10, I must say that I have a very high expectation out of movies. My view might be quite different from others that I've seen, but I must say, it's always subjective when comes to movies review. :P

So, go watch this movie. Remember not to walk away until the list of cast finish. There's another few minutes clip at the back.

Shrek 3

My Rating: 6/10

Humorous and entertaining. But, just like the curse of sequals of all movies, I would say this one sucks the most out of the 3 sequals. The story wasn't interesting enough. No surprises. Boring a little.

Still, it's worth watching. Gave it a 6 for it's humour (just like the other 2 sequals) and beautiful movements of the characters in the movie.

Spiderman 3

My Rating: 7/10

Not a bad movie, but not a great one either. At some point, it's boring to the stage where I feel like sleeping. Don't get me wrong, I'm not the type that only like action-packed movie, it's just some part of the talking is pure crap. *yawn*

However, I think the part I like most about the movie is the last 45 mins starting from the cool black spidey sitting alone on top of the roof of a gothic church. The bad guy good guy gang up part is great as well. That's more like it as you see some morale teachings behind all those part. Anyway, shouldn't go further, go catch the movie yourself. It's definitely a good start for a series of 2007 summer movie marathon.

300

My Rating: 7/10

A great movie!!! Not suitable for children though, as the amount of violence is unbelievable. Touching, exciting and most of all interesting. Even centuries before, human has learnt what teamwork can do. There are so many morals behind the story to be learnt. Enjoy the movie. The Computer Graphic (CG) might be a little too much for some.

Pursuit of Happyness

My Rating: 8/10

Inspired by the true story of Chris Gardner, this movie is a truly inspirational one. I've always like movie starring Will Smith, but didn't know that this movie also starred by his own son (Jaden Smith) is so good.

Didn't wanna spoil the content and tell you bout the content of the movie. But it's a must-watch movie. Although it's based on the story written in the book by Chris Gardner with the same name, quite some of the content were different in the movie. So, after watching the movie go wiki bout him.

Protege

My Rating: 6/10

You wouldn't believe it, it's a Singapore Raintree Production. It's quite good. Andy Lau's acts and Daniel Wu's seriousness in the movie. It's a can-watch movie. It's also a Cantonese movie that I don't feel wasting movie to watch after a long long time.

The Holiday

My Rating: 7/10

Watched this movie almost a month ago.

Anyway, this is a really good movie. Hilarious. Typical happily-ever-after movie. But it's always great to take time off from the reality and indulge yourself in happy movies like this.

Though, I don't Cameron Diaz is suitable for this kinda movie. Her wilful character and all... just don't suit.

Night at the Museum

My Rating: 7/10

Watched this movie by Ben Stiller over the weekend. It's a hilarious movie casted by Robin Williams and Owen Wilson. As usual, Ben Stiller did it again with the homey and funny movie. A very suitable movie for everyone in the family. A must watch.
